# Opening a new shuttle

If you don’t already have a shuttle, you will have to open one in order to borrow $USC. Here is a simple guide to help you understand the process.

1. Head to the [Borrow page](https://orby.network/borrow/)

2. Input the amount of collateral you want to deposit from your wallet

3. Input the amount of $USC you want to borrow

**Collateral ratio = collateral (in USD) / debt (in USD)**

4. Once ready, click on “Borrow $USC”

Note: Remember to check the details in the “Position Summary” carefully before signing the transaction in your wallet.

The total debt owed is broken down into 3 segments:

1. $USC received in wallet: the amount that is sent to your wallet
2. [Borrowing fee](https://doc.orby.network/overview/usduscs-peg-stability-and-redemptions/base-rate#borrowing-repayment-fees): a variable fee incurred every time you mint new $USC
3. Liquidation Reserve: a 20 $USC deposit that is reserved in event of liquidations only
